['Semi-open' peer reviewing: PAPER + REVIEWER'S REPORT + REPLY. The paper has recently been rejected by a typology journal on the basis of a single(!) review – a document of another scientific culture]. ABSTRACT: Unequivocal OVS languages are not attested, contrary to claims in the literature. Virtually all languages filed as OVS in typological descriptions turn out to be SVO languages with ergative alignment that have been misclassified due to ill-chosen diagnostics for "S" and "O".
