The quirky raising constructions in Irish discussed in the 1980s by both McCloskey and Stowell posed serious problems for the theories of the time, as they seemed to require either raising to the complement of P, or inherent case assigned by a predicate to a DP that it doesn't select. I revisit the issues again, bringing to bear new data from Scottish Gaelic, showing that an analysis that treats certain Ps as the spellout of an abstract K head, provides a straightforward solution to what used to be a rather problematic construction.
