[Chapter 3 from Anton Zimmerling, Ekaterina Lyutikova (eds.). Clause Architecture in Parametric Models. Moscow: LRC, 2016, 76-103.] In this chapter, I discuss the derivation of Russian thetic and categorical sentences in a generative-transformational framework with movement operations. Information structure is analyzed in terms of c(ommunicative)-constituents. I argue that all Russian thetic sentences are derived from categorical sentences and develop a version of the Linear-Accent analysis, which is compatible with mildly context-sensitive grammars.
